“Dog Gone Shame”
I’m a runnin and a rollin fool
I got to roll away
Left out on a midnight train
Travelin life for me
Don’t ya know I been thinkin on you
Lovin on old me
Headin through the midnight blue
Travelin life for me
Chorus 2x
All I know, it’s a dog gone dirty shame
If I can’t be with you – this old dog can’t live this way
Lookin out at the lonely night sky
Headed west I say

Drivin my blues away
Big old empty now I’m thinkin on you
But I gone so far away

All I know, it’s a dog gone dirty shame
If I can’t be with you – this old dog can’t live this way
Sun settin on a mountain sky
Where ya gave it all to me
Left out on a midnight train
Travelin life’s for me
I’m heading on back to you
Change is coming my way
Hobo life was a good livin, sure,
But home is mighty fine I say

|

“Rivertown”
Oh yes I’m runnin on down
Back to that old river town
Right where them old folks used to stay
Runnin on down through the country side
Ride along that smoke stack mile
This place used to be a wonder land
Well I ain’t no railroad man
But I’ll do the best I can
Get on that next stretch of road
If I could I surely would
But ya know hear we ain’t no good
That’s the only answer they ever had for me
The day they bought up all that land
They broke the back of that old man
He just had no place to go
Now the water here well it aint so clear
They just served up another beer
Oh that old river town
Well that old man he gone away
Drove the river folk away
When they bought up the other side of town
Now there ain’t no more factory
Sure ain’t nothing left today
Tried to burn that sucker down
Oh yes I’m rollin on down
Where they had that old river town
Ain’t much there left I say
Water flowin’ deep and wide
Growth all along the old west side
Old man lookin down with a smile I say

Traveling Shoes
02:28
|
|||
“Traveling Shoes”
Well the old crow crowed and the blue bird sang
The cat got caught in the maple tree
The barn was falling and the cat was callin
I fell in love with my baby to be
Walking through the woods in the early morning light
Sun was passin on by the night
I left that town, wanna fuss and fight
I’m rollin through the country and I’m feelin alright (are we alright)
Woke that morning it was drizzling rain
I rolled on over and I felt no pain
Headin to the valley straight through the alley
In the shadow of that old oak tree 2x
Cows was a runnin and the pig slept in
I walked so far my shoes worn thin
The sky was blue my feet was red
I bummed I ride and slept in an old shed
Headin on West again, found me a swimming hole
Jumped on in
Little fish swimming between my toes
Mean old crawfish clipped on to my nose (mean sun of a gun)
Train whistle blowin, so I jumped on in
I met a hobo named Peg Leg Jim
Now Jim really wadn’t peg legged at all
When He heard that whistle blow he made the call (I’m runnin as fast as I can)
I was long gone, I was there to stay
But that strong lovin woman brought me home one day
With a home cooked meal and feather bed
Sure was better than that old red shed (like me a good shed)
Wanderin around the world that way
I grew a little weary need a place to stay
But when I get that travelin bug again
I hop a freight and roll with the wind (got my travelin shoes on)
